Fiji Television Signs On With iTaukei Trust Fund Board

Fiji Television Limited has been granted the exclusive rights to broadcast episodes filmed under the Vanua Fieldwork exercise.

The Vanua Fieldwork comprised of films or documentaries that were compiled from various villages within the Rewa Province. These films included showcasing the villages cultural identity or communal activities that they were famously known for.

Representing the Fiji TV Ltd was the Chief Executive Officer , Mr. Sitiveni Halofaki who thanked the Trust Fund Board for such an initiative. He added that the documentaries would boost their viewing capacity. According to Mr Halofaki, this would further increase local content on their free-to-air channel, Fiji One.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of iTaukei Trust Fund Board , Mr. Aisake Taito was more than delighted to award Fiji TV this exclusive rights. Mr. Taito highlighted the need for having iTaukei and Rotuman culture documented or preserved.

Furthermore, he hoped that such films would not only inspire the young generation to participate in some of their cultural activities, but also allow them to be proud of who they are and where they hail from.

The documentaries would be aired on Fiji One in the coming weeks. In the meantime, the next phase of filming is expected to begin soon within chosen villages of the Tailevu Province.
