Every year, the ITaukei Trust Fund Board – TTFB in collaboration with the Ministry of itaukei Affairs celebrates International Mother Language Day . To commemorate this year’s celebration , our Project Coordinator Rotuma Alfred Wiliame took the staff through a session of learning to speak the Rotuman language.
The TTFB staff took time out to learn the Rotuman language as it being a part of the Fund’s mandate in looking after the wellbeing of iTaukei and Rotuman livelihoods, culture and heritage.
It was an interactive session and vital one as the staff learnt the importance of preserving a language nearing endangerment. All in all , the staff admitted that preserving one’s language is as vital as the culture one belongs to.
The book “Learn to Speak Rotuma” is on sale at the iTaukei Trust Fund Board office in Nasese and for those that wish to get a copy – it currently is being sold at $10.55.
