Last week, the iTaukei Trust Fund Board (TTFB) partnered with the Soqosoqo Vakamarama Kadavu (SSVK) to host a two-day Women’s Empowerment and Leadership Training Programme at the GCC Talanoa Lounge in Suva. The workshop, officiated by the Assistant Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, Honorable Sashi Kiran focused on building leadership skills, understanding organizational structures, and addressing key community challenges. Participants engaged in sessions on decision-making, conflict resolution, resource mapping, and entrepreneurship, creating a platform to strengthen their roles as leaders in their communities.
The training emphasized cultural identity and the importance of revitalizing endangered languages and traditions, empowering women to lead with confidence while preserving their heritage. The final day concluded with practical activities on project planning, budgeting, and report writing to equip participants with the tools needed for effective community management.
Each participant received a certificate of completion during the closing ceremony, marking a significant milestone in their leadership journey. More importantly, they left the training more knowledgeable, confident, and inspired to implement what they learned in their respective tikina. This initiative reflects TTFB and SSVK’s commitment to fostering empowered, resourceful, and resilient women leaders across Kadavu.
